ALBI Engineering runt naast de electronica-afdeling sinds 2005 ook een eigen raceteam en wordt door diverse raceteams ingehuurd voor data- en set up engineering.

Op 8 november 2001 is ALBI Engineering door Erik Albertsma opgericht. Erik is in 2000 afgestudeerd aan de HTS-Autotechniek te Arnhem. Na een paar jaar werkzaam te zijn geweest in de autosport, o.a. engineer van de 2001 kampioen-Renault Clio RS van Jeroen Bleekemolen, is hij zich gaan richten op het verkopen en installeren van data acquisitiesystemen in de autosport en later ook zijn eigen raceteam gestart.

Door jaren als freelance data-analist bij topteams te werken heeft Erik veel ervaring opgedaan van organisatie van het team, begeleiden van rijders tot set-up van de auto.

In 2005 heeft Erik een BMW E36 M3 voor Richard van den Berg geprepareerd en meteen in het eerste seizoen de titel gepakt in de Sportklasse van de Dutch Supercarchallenge. Dit was het begin van het team, wat verder bestaat uit een vaste groep engineers die de passie voor autosport delen en veel ervaring hebben op nationaal en internationaal niveau (o.a. FIA GT, Porsche Supercup). ALBI Engineering regelt alles, van auto, pitbox, tent tot catering.

In 2006 is een BMW E46 WTC M3 gebouwd om deel te nemen in de Supersportklasse van de DSC. Vanaf 2007 kwam Eugene Janssen het team versterken, eerst met een BMW Compact STW en later met de door ALBI geprepareerde BMW Z4 GTR.

In 2009 is het Dutch GT4 kampioenschap een nieuwe uitdaging voor ALBI. Richard van den Berg en Ferdinand Kool vormen een duo om in de BMW Z4 M Coupé aan dit kampioenschap deel te nemen. In de eerste helft van het seizoen had het team helaas met wat pech te maken, maar in de laatste 3 races heeft het team laten zien voor de podiumplaatsen te kunnen racen. 4 podiums, 2 pole positions, snelste raceronde en ronderecord op Zandvoort.

Mede door de goede resultaten in 2009 werkt in 2010 ALBI Engineering samen met Revs Motorsport aan o.a. de Porsche 911 GT4 van Christiaan Frankenhout (kampioen 2009) en Ferdinand Kool van PS Autosport voor het Dutch GT4 kampioenschap. Ook rijdt Eugene Janssen in de Z4 GTR weer in de DSC.

In 2011 heeft Erik o.a. gewerkt als engineer i.s.m. Intercar bij Racing Team Holland by Ekris Motorsport. Zij reden in zowel Dutch als EU GT4 kampioenschap met rijderkoppels Duncan Huisman-Ricardo vd Ende en P.C.-Bernhard van Oranje. Ricardo vd Ende is zowel NL als EU kampioen geworden!

Ook worden JR Motorsport in de Dutch Supercar Challenge en DB Motorsport in FIA GT3 ondersteunt.

Information Albi-Engineering racing team in Dutch GT4:

With great passion Albi Engineering* joined the Dutch GT4 Championship**. Team manager of Albi Engineering, Erik Albertsma, automotive engineer and data analist, runs together with his team, which has 8 years of experience at top level in professional auto racing, the only BMW Z4 in this well known and extremely competitive GT4 Championship.

All resources and an adequate budget are spent on an optimal preparation of the BMW Z4. Now the start up defects and some unfortunate mechanical problems are taken care of, this smallest but most competitive team is performing superbly with incredible achievements in the last few meetings of this season. Although the BMW Z4 is the only car within this Championship that didn’t receive any restrictions from the SRO Commission since in theory the car was below GT4 standards for 2009.
A short list of achievements by the team of Albi Engineering thus far; four podiums, two pole positions, the fastest race lap and the Dutch GT4 track record at Zandvoort.
As in this season team Albi Engineering will be accompanied by the two experienced drivers Ferdinand Kool (Formula Ford, Formula 3) and Richard van den Berg (Dutch Supercar Challenge).

Founded in 2001, Albi Engineering is the company of Erik Albertsma, former autosport engineer to among others current A1GP and Porsche supercup star Jeroen Bleekemolen. Albi specializes in the installation and set-up of data acquisition systems, as well as analysing the consequent data for help with further improvement in all aspects of car handling and engine dynamics. Using Italian top supplier AIM as a base, teams assisted by Albi have claimed championships in Touring cars, single marques cups such as Alfa 147 Challenge and single seater classes like Formula Renault

**Dutch GT4 championship:
At the moment the Dutch GT4 Championship is the biggest, most popular and competitive GT4 Championship in Europe.
These cars of several different brands are well-matched which leads to spectacular battles on the track at an even playing field. The qualifying times of the top 15 cars are within one second therefore they all have a good chance competing for the top-prizes.
The SRO Commission recommends this race category highly and is proud to have this championship in their GT racing series.
